Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Dropout, dropout.so (the "Service"), operated by Dropout. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Dropout is an educational AI tutor. You can upload or point us at your course materials — notes, PDFs, slides, and other study documents — and we may generate plain-language explanations and analogies based on those materials. The Service is experimental and continuously changing: we do not promise that explanations will be accurate, complete, or tailored to your courses or institution, and we make no guarantee about the speed, quality, or availability of any features described on our site. Explanations are generated for learning purposes only and are not a substitute for attending your classes, completing your own assignments, or professional academic advice. Always verify explanations against your course materials and instructors.
2. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by:
- Uploading content that is unlawful, infringing, or harms others.
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems.
- Using the Service to build a competing product or scrape its content.
- Submitting harmful code, or interfering with the Service's operation.
- Using the Service to generate complete answers, essays, or solutions to submit as your own work in violation of your institution's academic-integrity policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the notes, documents, and course materials you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to process, store, and use it solely to provide the Service to you. Your materials are treated as confidential: we do not claim ownership of your content, we do not use it to train models for other users, and we do not share it with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and any content it generates for you, is owned by Dropout and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Content provided to you through the Service is licensed for your personal, non-commercial educational use only. You may not resell, redistribute, or incorporate it into other products or services.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that explanations will always be accurate or complete. Explanations are generated automatically and may contain errors; they are a learning aid, not a source of truth.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dropout shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may terminate or suspend access to the Service at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct we believe violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful.
